I needed an external DVD to restore my HP Mini and this was available locally. It worked first time without any extra software or drivers with Windows 7 32 Bit. Later I tried it on an HP Pentium 4 Media Center that has been upgraded from Windows XP to 7 32 Bit and it worked as well. I both read and wrote CDs and read a DVD. I'm satisfied.
